Chairman of the Brose Group
Michael Stoschek (65) is Chairman of the Brose Group. The grandson of Max Brose, the company’s founder, he completed a Siemens management training course and studied business administration at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 1971, at the age of 23, Stoschek took over the management of the then Metallwerk Max Brose & Co. At that time, the company employed a workforce of almost 1,000 and had a business volume of 55 million German marks.
Under his management, Brose has evolved from being a national manufacturer to a world market leader in mechatronic components and systems for automobile bodies.
At the end of 2005, Stoschek withdrew from operational management and took on the chairmanship of the Brose Group.
To assure the long-term orientation of the Brose Group, the third and fourth generations of the Stoschek and Volkmann owner families approved a Code of Governance in 2011, setting down what they perceive to be their role as well as the tasks and composition of the company’s management bodies.
For Michael Stoschek, entrepreneurship means assuming responsibility also outside the company. In his home community of Ahorn near Coburg, for example, of which he is an honorary citizen, he supports several social organizations and was one of the initiators of the “Neue Innenstadtkonzept” a concept aimed at promoting the further development of Coburg, the city of his birth. From January 2007 until June 2008, Stoschek was president of Coburg’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Since 2006, he has chaired the board of trustees of the World Heritage Foundation Bamberg.
Michael Stoschek was awarded the initiative prize of the “Stiftung Industrieforschung” (Industrial Research Foundation) in 2003, holds the Merit Cross 1st class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, and was named Family Entrepreneur of the year ind 2005. In 2010, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit for his lifetime achievements.
Stoschek has also made a name for himself in competitive sports: In 1992 and 1996, he was Bavarian Showjumping Champion and in 2006 European Rally Champion in vehicles built up to 1975.
