Brose in the fast lane
While window regulators sales of 745 million exceeded the previous years level by 5%, the door system business increased by 7% to 528 million. The turnover with seat adjusters rose by 11% to 275 million. With the closure system business, a recent acquisition from Robert Bosch GmbH, generating 230 million, the business volume of the family-owned company Brose increased in the previous year by 23% to approx. 1.8 billion.
At the end of 2002, Brose, having created 400 new jobs, had a company headcount totaling about 6,700 at 24 locations. Investing 100 million from the cash flow, the company started up new production facilities in Slovakia and Belgium and carried out modernization work at the companys founding location of Coburg.
Even though worldwide vehicle production figures will continue to fall, Brose anticipates, for the current year, a business volume on par with the previous years level and perceptible growth from 2004 on.
110 million will be invested this year primarily in building up new manufacturing capacities and information systems in Europe and Canada.
The official opening of the renovated company premises at Broses founding location is to take place in mid-July with the motto Tradition and High Tech. In the southern part of Coburg, more than 20 buildings, now equipped with the most advanced technology, have been built or restored in the course of the last five years.
At both of the locations of Coburg and Hallstadt/Bamberg, the Brose Group has got a production plant as well as business divisions and central functions responsible for worldwide activities.
