Ford/USA order for Brose door systems

Coburg/Chicago. From July 2004, the automotive supplier Brose will be supplying about 1 million door systems per year for two Ford car models.

Brose will be setting up its first US American production site on the “Chicago Manufacturing Campus” in direct proximity to the customer’s plant, ensuring delivery of the door systems in line with the car manufacturer’s own production cycle.

“We are looking forward to working together with the Ford Motor Company. In our opinion, there is considerable potential for the expansion of the door system business on the US market,” says Jan Kowal, President of the sales and engineering company in Detroit, Brose North America.

The door system for the Ford car models consists of a steel base plate separating the wet and dry area of the door as well as a power window regulator with anti-trap electronics, wire harnessing, loudspeaker, latch and inner door handle.

Although the doors of the two vehicles have been designed differently, the door systems that have been developed by Brose can be utilized in both car models. “This makes it possible to achieve substantial cost savings,” continues Kowal.

The car supplier started to introduce door systems onto the market in Europe as early as 1986 and was the first company internationally to deliver these products to the car manufacturer on a “Just in Sequence” basis. With its global market share of over 40 per cent, Brose is “Number One” in this product segment.
