Bar raised even higher

Brose Group (05/2001). Brose has raised the bar even higher on the world market in terms of seat adjuster comfort. For the first time ever, the seat memory with speed control developed by Brose will see series production in Volkswagen’s new top model, the so-called D1.

It signals a leap to the next generation of seat adjuster technology by using a number of available sensor signals to achieve a previously unattainable smooth running noise in the adjuster technology. This is made possible because the ideal running noise, which is dependent on the speed of the motor, is defined. Changes in load conditions, for instance the user’s weight, the adjusted direction or temperature and dirt fluctuations, which, in the case of conventional solutions, would normally result in motor speed and consequently noise fluctuations, can be detected and counteracted by control-specific technology within milliseconds. Put simply: the speed of the motor is always the same and thus always produces the same pleasant noise “calibrated“ by the Brose acoustics engineers.

The electronics can do even more such as supporting the seat climatic and massage functions as well as the entry and exit aids (steering wheel and belt height control), ensuring soft start and stop phases in the adjustment technology, coordinating the speed of different adjustment functions as well as controlling the car instrument illumination.
